The search for the “Real” America

The Capitol of the United States booms as much of the rest of the country busts.
The situation is far worse than even most Americans know, or more likely, will accept. I'm a Central Texas sheep rancher who frequently travels to Austin Texas and other points within and outside of Texas, both urban and rural. There is a definite difference how the Americans in the countryside are seeing things compared to the urban Americans. Yet, there are critical similarities. The urban Americans are in the deepest state of denial, they give up the keys to their underwater condo, then that afternoon they are down at the Apple store buying a new Ipad.. The rural Americans are a bit more practical, but not by much for the most part, as most rural Americans are not even involved in agriculture.. They just bought about 50 acres so the kids could have a large "safe" place to play. Some old farmers and multi-generational farms are left in my area, but we are the obvious minority. Local gun stores and other outlets of ammunition cannot keep .45acp, 7.62X51mm(we call it .308) 7.62X39mm or 5.56X45mm (we call it .223) ammunition in stock, as soon as it arrives, it is all sold to waiting customers. This is happening in both rural and urban outlets. Absolute rage and disgust at government, both federal and local is common conversation in the rural areas. Feed stores are where many local farmers gather and talk to avoid the heat of the day in summer, and politics is no longer taboo, in fact, it dominates the conversations most days. They are now totally disenfranchised, with BOTH political wings. Some sons and daughters have been buried due to our long conflicts, but the real disgust is with how wounded returning veterans are treated, as well as how mentally damaged the returning veterans are. It is now common knowledge that military service is not just not helpful with a young persons future, it is downright detrimental. There is growing disenfranchisement in the cities as well, just not to the degree in rural areas. But the gap is quickly closing.
@Texas FarmerLittle off topic. With all due respect - 5.56x39 is somewhat different from .223 Rem. Please be careful with this. If rifle is made just for .223, then it can be dangerous shooting NATO rounds. The casing is just slightly different
Regards.
