Russian-US talks on replacing the expired Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty are progressing well, according to President Dmitry Medvedev.
everyone else is making them and US and Russia are going to eliminate theirs. right.....nice to see they're getting along anyways.
Does anyone remotely sane trust any USA government? They never honour treaties. Whatever its current shape, form, colour or creed is a USA government is by default hell-bent on taking over the World. What's new is that the current White House tenant is doing it a little bit more subtly. The US of A needs a break. They are in two unwinnable wars at the moment and the last thing it needs is a Russian technological surge. This treaty is designed to buy time for the USA elite to consolidate. After that it will be business as usual: threats, build up of tensions and military gear along the Russian borders and in the end an all-out attack on Russia. They are desperate. They owe trillions of dollars which they never intent to pay back and they need a big war.
Alann, Exactly. The US is far, far from being sane, so I hope that Medvedev and Putin and Lavrov will be extremely cautious and will build strong defenses, as Count Cash advises. The US is less sane with each day that passes. It seems to be bent on becoming exactly like the mess the which the Bolshevicks created.
Parity is totally irrevelant because both Russia and the United States will still possess enough nuclear weapons to destroy the world after such treaty. Any treaty will be just a lot of "political correctness" and provide "word noise" for the news medias {to keep making more money}. Under the current world situation it is not logical for Russia and the United States to disarm themselves. Another nuclear power would just fill the vacuum and they may not be a careful as Russia and the United States have been in controlling them. Disarming is voodoo diplomacy for both countries.

If it isn't parity, then walk away. The treaty was a positive effort, but if it doesn't work for us, it doesn't work, at least we can say we tried. Our security will never sink or swim based on any treaty, it will solely depend on our defensive capabilities. So let's build out those capabilities in a pragmatic sensible fashion. We have the financial and technical capability to maintain systems more than capable of inflicting catastrophic damage on US or NATO, in the case of their aggression towards us.
