Stop the world, I want to get off

Today, the global village is suffering the stiff penalty of capitalism run amok. But will our increasingly homogeneous culture also blow a tire down the road due to unregulated lifestyles?
the problem isn't the medium or the message, it's the saturation from a young age and the laziness of parents. this laziness being induced by a work culture of demand, perseverance and "the grind". violent video games and movies can be "fun" , but they have to be placed into the proper perspective and used as entertainment, not escapism.
Actually, I would like to correct you in that Dylan and Eric didn't listen to Marilyn Manson. They found his music too uninspired. A band they did listen to though, is KMFDM. KMFDM is commonly interpreted as a German acronym for "No Pity for the Majority". I know this simply from talking to them too much when I was younger. I don't glorify them as hero's mind you, I just would like people to get them straight. They were very, very emotional unstable individuals and even I reflect on the obvious signs of what they were planning. Why no one, student, teacher, or parent, did anything to stop them, I don't think we'll ever know.
We are already on the way to become an incompetent society. The media industry has successfully sold the flawed logic zx construct by which the "parents are lazy" and should control kids, or otherwise, we are asking for a heavy-handed government censorship with all its ugly manifestations. What a crap! We, the citizens, have an absolute right to refuse to have anything piped into our homes or other public places where children and impressionable young adults live, play or just walk by. Given the advances of technology, it will be easy for those who choose such TV programming, games, nude magazine front pages to get it without limitation. And then should they choose to infect or enlighten depends on your point of view - their children and youngsters, that should be their call. That would give us, responsible adults, the peace of mind to know that such material cannot be accessed casually in the supermarket lines, or planted into the "news" stories and advertising. And for all those parents who would like their children to have access to anything, they should be able to get their children into parental-permission arcade, buy them magazines of their choice in appropriate places, and purchase content of their choice. We should demand hygiene for all our public places, and everything that is pumped into our homes. Mental hygiene is what we need in our society.

Why cant people control them selves. your TV, Computer , DVD player has a power button. It you dont like what you see turn it off. If you dont want your kids to watch it turn it off. Spend time with your children and discuss the world around them and teach them about social norms. That called parenting! All video games have labels describing their content placed by the game maker. If it says M for mature dont by it for 7 year old Timmy. PG stands for perental guidance not play ground. The seemingly depraved indifference in culture is due to depraved indifference of parents.
