“High time for US to withdraw from Iraq”

Despite the latest bombings in the Iraqi capital, the US shouldn't delay its withdrawal from Iraq as the population doesn’t want them to stay, Raed Jarrar from American Friends Service Committee told RT.

Well, obviously Raed disagrees with the headline. The presence of US troops is distracting and provocative. So long as the Iraqis are capable of defending themselves the US should leave. These recent attacks suggest problems in the present Iraqi security framework, but frankly, attacks like these occurred when the US troop surge was at its peak. It is not like we have some magic power to do away with the violence, and so long as the Iraqi military can at least can do what we did: suppress as opposed eradicate the violence; then we should still leave.
