There is a hidden agenda in the US–China conflict over the Taiwanese arms trade, says Philip De Leon of Trade Connections International.

“One of the big issues we do not think about is that US has been trying to get China to endorse sanctions against Iran. The US is considering that it is very important for US security, and China has been like: You know, we won’t touch this,” De Leon told RT.

“Now the US is thinking: That was important to us, you didn’t do anything. We are going to do sales to Taiwan, and we won’t care too much about how you care about this,” he added.

Washington has urged Beijing not to place sanctions on American companies engaged in arms trade with Taiwan. The Obama administration defended the $6.4 billion in deals sanctioned last week.

According to the US, it will allow the military balance to be maintained in the region. Beijing has always strongly opposed US transactions with Taiwan, which it considers a Chinese territory awaiting reunification.

you people really don't get it, think clearly Afghanistan, Iraq, china, Russia, that completes the circle on one side. the other side Ukraine, Georgia, Roumania , Yugoslavia, this makes the other side of the circle it is an iron curtain around Russia only this time is facing on the other direction. however the game china USA is on another level, it is more economical, it is between the Chinese corporations and the American corporations, however the end game is the destruction of china economically. the same is for Europe but Europe is entering the economical Marshall plan in short is a military pressure to win an economical war. the solution is south America and Africa, the Arabs nations are together on the scheme as they depend Washington for existence reason why Saudi Arabia is a dictatorship. Iran is just a balance piece, but it is Iran who can decide if the plan works or fails. as Iran can unite the Arab world and that will change the whole scenario, the west will loose in the end. on the other hand what we know as occident is long gone, reason why the military men worldwide have an urge to control the planet a 1984 scenario Orwellian world if you like.

@EML: You are so wrong! Don't you see, it's so simple! It's because: they are the "best" of the "best", and that gives them the right to do whatever they want in the name of "preserving our interests and our way of life" (e.g. making decisions unilaterally, skipping the UN... and so on). Also, significant role in this "decisive decision making for the better world" behavior, makes the fact that their politicians have enough military power and no morale what so ever, to do whatever big money corporations want of them (make note that I am not addressing this to majority of US population, witch works honestly and expect their country to behave morally responsible, to actually be democracy) ... Result is obvious, a little Hollywood style propaganda to start the wars, and then US militry occupation to control the "intersts" in that region -> expecting the big profit ($$$) from the occupied country resources. The blood of the "native" population is of no interest to them, since they blame the worsening of the situation on someone else... making the interlude to more military spending and more wars ($). To make it short: lack of true democracy has given the birth to hypocrisy and plutocracy.
