Recess in times of recession?

With a month-long recess in August, the US Congress will have worked only 173 days out of the entire year. Christopher Beam of Slate magazine says that this is a tradition that dates back to 18th century
The 173 days they worked was about 172 more than we needed. Can you imagine the damage they could do if they worked full time. All of our current problems were caused by the congress, the very people who are now going to fix everything for us. Our oil shortage was caused because they refused to allow drilling, Social security is bankrupt because they embezzled the money for other things, the housing market collapsed because they forced banks to loan money to people that could not afford to repay it. Congress IS the problem not the solution.
Unlike the Russian goverment the United States goverment and sometimes people are disfunctional and do not think. I would rather them be on recess then making laws. We all get a month break before the insane come back.

Whenever my friends complain about the lazy-good-for-nothing Congress, taking vacations all the time, I ask them if they really WANT all the government they are paying for. If Congress spent more time in session, that would mean they were making more laws. My Libertarian friends stop complaining at this point.
