RT: "US President Barack Obama announced that, “We've identified substantial savings and in the days and weeks ahead we'll continue going through the budget line by line and we’ll identify more than 100 programs that will be cut or eliminated.” Some more Obama babble. Obama and his White House pals know exactly where the wasteful expenditures are: payments for their wars of occupation in Afghanistan, Iraq and Pakistan; however, Obama is too much of a weakling to curtail this waste by standing up to the Pentagon generals and the contractors such as Eric Prince, that worldwide purveyor of death and destruction. Instead, Obama will grin, play some basketball and go through some meaningless street coordinator babble about cutting waste in the budget. If Obama and his pals do make some budget cuts, they will occur in areas of social programs such as pensions, medical care, community services. Obama would never dare upset his Pentagon generals by ending their wasteful wars of occupation. The American insanity is being played out on the deserts, plains and mountains of Afghanistan, Iraq and Pakistan, while the American people are slowly driven into poverty.

The current U.S administration is a like a mad man with corporate credit cards! They just keep spending and spending. I don't mind spending, but most governmental spending should have a return that most of society can benefit from. Washington spent the money to give Washington and Wall street all the benefits and power while Main street is more marginalized and meagerly appeased.

First time to RT & I really like it! If there are to be budget cuts then let it begin with DoD & bring the troops homes. We were warned by Thomas Jefferson to stay out of 'foreign wars'.

Change. This is the key word. Change of Policy, of Economics, of Attitude, the list could go on and on. The pendulum has swung so far in the 'wrong' direction that only a mighty push in the opposite direction will have any chance of stoping it - before its momentum pulls the whole mechanism apart (the 'mechanism' in this case is the US itself and everything they are linked to). History has shown that corrective action of the magnitude now required to modify the behaviour of the US will not be painless or easy. If the US people do not act soon change is likely to be delivered to them in one of two ways. Both are very painful and neither are a 'good' option. The first, but fortunatley the most unlikely 'push' is a war with an enemy who can inflict the same damage upon US cities which the US military can inflict upon other nations cities, thereby bringing home to the American majority (for the first time in thier history) the terrible realities of both modern warfare and the consequences of thier governments militaristic foreign policy. The second 'push', still unlikely at the moment but simmering just below the surface, is a 'peasents revolt'. Not so much a 'Russian Revolution', or even an Iranian style revolution, but more a throwing out of the current political and economic systems, a removal of the plutocracy, followed by a 'resetting' of constitutional values. This could be followed in turn by lawful and equitable international relationships and a move away from military dominance and confrontation. Change, however and whenever it comes, must eventually come. I hope that neither of the above scenarios are found to be prophetic, however if the US people do not change the direction of thier country, and soon, change will be forced upon them and they risk loosing everything they currently have.
