The new Hollywood blockbuster “Avatar” is a story about American military imperialism occupying foreign territory in order to get resources, blogger and activist David Swanson argued to RT.

He pointed out some uncomfortable parallels with America's wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

“There are people in the way and those people have to be moved or have to be killed,” he said.

“It is stunning to watch millions of Americans go and pack theaters and cheer for a movie in which those foreigners, those resisters, those equivalents of the American Indians or the Iraqi resistance or Afghan resistance, are made into the heroes and the US mercenaries and the US soldiers are made into the villains,” Swanson said. “It is an incredible reversal.”

“For one thing, Iraqis are not 12 feet tall and blue with pointed ears,” joked Swanson. “But this is a story about American military force at the bidding of a corporation interested in a natural resource that is under someone else’s ground, going and trying to win the hearts and minds in a rather ham-handed manner and failing, and trying to use brute force to drive people out.”

“We have killed hundreds of thousands, almost certainly over a million Iraqis,” he added. “We have driven millions of Iraqis out of their nation, and we have done this in a place very rich in natural resources, which was among the motivations for going in there.”

Then, the semantic juggling practiced by the U.S. government to deceive and confuse (propaganda} as regards its true intentions towards the Cuban Revolution, as a subversive strategy in the field of ideas. Possibly one of the best examples we can invoke to define the most important U.S.measure against the Cuban economy is the substitution of the word "blockade" with "embargo". Their intentions are still very much alive today. If only the average U.S. citizens knew what these terrible intentions really are……….even at this very moment. President Obama knows and I hope he has at least as much success with ending this Blockade as he had with his Medical Assistance program and his Cleaning Up Wall Street action. Congratulations on that Sir (Scene- near end:= American forcesfrom inside Guantanamo base unleash an attack onto the defending Cubans who riposte and defeat the attackersof their homeland. errr... I am confused.! Did not RT (Russia Today) run a story recently claiming.... "Soviet sci-fi writer, 76-year-old Boris Strugatsky, has accused Oscar- winning director James Cameron of plagiarism." It seems that Boris wrote the story in the 60's - So..!! I am wondering, which country's modern wars do we think 'Avatar' is actually about now? P.S. Q: What's the difference between a Russian 'war of liberation' and an American 'war of conquest' ? A: The Americans go home afterwards God bless IRAQ -xx-

well after read some of the comments, i will show my opinion. I think that the US acted really wrong in Iraq, they invaded and destroyed that country just to arrest Sadan, if this really was the goal of US military in iraq (arest Sadan), why dont they just sended some SEALs to capture Sadan? why they had to destroy the infra-structure of iraq? just for test their weapons, this was wasnt necessary. Now diferent then many people i think that the US military operations in Afeganistan is correct, they are combating terrorists and also cleaning the mess that C.I.A and the USSR did in the cold war, now they are doing the right thing. Now about AVATAR, its a great movie, and i dont understand why there is so much negative ideas about the movie, why so many ameriacans disliked the movie because the Marines were the bad guys. It's time to wake up! Everybody is tired to see the marines as the good guys always in the movies, and its just a movie, not an anti american propganda.
