This analyse could be made in all other capitalist states. In France we have what can be called the Neuilly-sur-Seine's Mafia: a dozen families who own all French media (TV, Radios, Newspapers, Magazines, Editions etc.). Those same peoples-oligarchs, owners of armaments, aeronautic and BTP firms, fabricated the machiavelic comedian (ex-Maire of Neuilly) who, actually govern our nation. Since the financial and mental situation in France is getting from bad to worse, those media spend their time telling us how ugly, it is elsewhere. In many ways, we repeat what we blamed the Soviet-Union of doing. This abuse works very well and confirm my favourite remark about Julius Cesar: Governing idiots is a lot easier than leading well educated peoples. Sorry Future Generations...Best Regards... JCM

We've known for 30 or 40 years that the media was driven by corporate interests. It's never been a secret that it what is printed and how the story is presented is tailored to reflect the views of it's advertisers, major shareholders, owners, and target readership. There's nothing new in this, and anyone who claims it was different back then has not bothered to take note of recurring complaints from reporters and journalists over the last few decades. The only difference is that nowadays bias is more open and unabashedly obvious on both sides of any issue. What is sad is that certain elements claiming to be on the side of 'truth' and 'freedom' are playing the same game (catering their information to their 'readership') while calling the other side black.

@mbach: Perhaps you knew all along that the media had always been driven by corporate interests, but most Americans to this day think the read "free press" and believe everything that is said on TV. Besides, while corporate interests were present always, it progressively has become much worse in the past decade or two, and especially since 9/11. And yes, there is always an agenda in the news coverage, it's always tailored to readership, if it wasn't then no one would listen to the news or buy newspapers. Trouble starts when news are not news any more, but mockery for the sake of profit and when anything that's shown or written by the media is manipulated to promote hidden agendas, leading to obsene profits without any regard for truth, justice and welfare of others. For example, like the war in Iraq was promoted by the western media based on some non-existent weapons of mass destruction so that US companies could reap obsene profits from that war. So, yes, the US media can be called black, because frankly, it is black!

Not just American... isn't it funny that i was just thinking about this last night. every now and again I see a comment by an 'amazed' citizen that a particular subject wasn't covered in the MSM 'Main Stream Media' I always wonder at the things that don't seem obvious to people, but then realise that unless you are a first hand witness to the organizational power of the 'MSM' then you can not fully estimate just how much of a centralised ‘core entity’ it is. I throw back to the recent Georgian attack on south Ossetia and the comments that Vladimir Putin made about how impressed that he was that when he picked up a newspaper or turned on a television that there was not one single broadcast but, instead silence, but not just in America- right across the globe. I’m Sure PM Putin fully understood before that day the nature of this single entity but it's important to be witness to the fact that WHEN IT COUNTS, they will all act in unison and as the single entity they are. Another time (there have been many) was the risk to the entity of Ron Paul running in the Presidential election well needless to say there where many amusing accounts of the MSM all of a sudden 'forgetting' that Ron Paul existed. And that’s all I have to say about the matter Except that we all know the inefficiency of single centralised units.

We live in a Republic not a pure democracy! Another misrepresentation by a left educated journalist. And so it goes. I get more real news from various christian religious outlets than any other media. The reason being is they are able to see the true patterns of evil and back it up with historical facts. Unfortunately the masses repeat these patterns after their countries and leaders become "sophisticated " enough to manipulate and activate a large enough block of the populase thru lies, misinformation, and propaganda, the collapse (or should say "CHANGE" is inevitable.

In USA it is permitted to transmit commercials directed towards children. In USA it is permitted to sell Genetically modified crops for human consumption. These both ways are evil and in Europa they are forbidden. This only proves that either the people of USA are very unethical OR that their democracy don't work. Most of childrens program in television within USA are made to promote war and to glorify it and to sell toys. A culture of war is transmitted to children early on in their life. Those never-ending animated series have two purposes: to sell toys and to indoctrinate children. The USA certainly needs mercenaries to supply it's armies in it's wars.
