Is the US media leading America to (another) war?

In the past, war reporters bravely followed soldiers into the jaws of war. Today, it looks like the soldiers are embedded in the media instead, simply going along for the story.

His comments are true and correct...Usa is most undemocratic regime state in the world-pure EVIL..From Vietnam,Korea till today (non-stop) they commited unseen crimes in present human memory...So many millions innorcent people die from Usa doing...Every Usa president was a war crime criminal-include Obama! What strike me always and always is :how those people in Usa government and those who doing dirrect killings can live in peace and love their own kids...Honesly I can not imagine myself (and I think many of you will agree) going in foregn state under (always)fake excuses and kill somebody there...Usa is a long time a black hole of humanity-I think they are not humans... Thanke you...

War is always horrible, but it is sometimes necessary. No major power, including Russia, objected to the necessity of this war beforehand. Sovereign nations have a right to defend themselves, and if Afghanistan is put on the course of modernization by this conflict the resulting lowering of the starvation rate will save far more lives than were lost to the thus far relatively small levels violence. The wars in Chechnya killed far more people in far fewer years. Afghanistan is not Iraq.

Zak, Excellent summary of the American history following World War II. And in a single paragraph! I dare anybody to disagree with you. However I don't think you blame the American people. It is the system and the ruling class, as anybody with a bird's intellect would understand. Well said!

I am a US citizen but I assure I am also human and completely agree that US is a festering cancer on this planet. William is like many that I know, he is a brain washed sheep but do not hate him for this but pity him for truth is something he does not dare face. Unfortunately many Americans have become mindless zombies

Americans, wake up! Read "Confessions of an Economic Hit Man" by John Perkins! Read "War is a Racket" by Major General Smedley Butler! Banks and Corporations own the U.S. Government and have been using the U.S. Military for decades to take what ever suits the Banks and Corporations. Americans were given a responsibility by America's Founding Fathers: Keep the Government in check! Americans have utterly failed at this task. George Washington's fears have come to pass. The U.S. Government has become a very Fearful Master.

Thanke you armen08...you are right- I do not blame any Usa ordinary citizen for the crimes of their government! I do believe that majority Usa citizens are for peace but as you said a bad sistem runing a show.I am aware they can not do anything at the moment to change that...We all like to see peacefull Usa and the world- humans shall not die by force and not before our natural time come...Thanke you!

I would like to just say this - If you're an American citizen and hate America (or Americans) please don't hesitate to leave! My sons are both in the military ( one in the Air Force and the other in the Marine Corps ) Our Marine is in Afghanistan right now fighting - I love my children more than my own life so for you to say that Americans aren't human or to say that you can't understand how we love our own children is ridiculous to say the least. I am PROUD of both of my children. We believe in God & Country - Our government is not perfect but please ..please show me one that is? If it's so bad then why do so many people want in? What is "criminal" is in a time of war to betray your brothers and sisters. Your country! I am by no means brain washed nor a sheep. I think it humorous that foreigners sit back and talk about how EVIL America is but at the first sign of trouble who do they turn to? Who do they call to the rescue? They don't want to fight - No ..let the Americans fight for us! That is how it is and always has been. We are a GREAT Nation - Never forget that. Proud Military Mother

Lisa: Let me get this straight...you are saying that because you have sons in the military, you think that gives the United States the right to invade and occupy any nation it likes? I'm an American, my great grandfather fought for the Union in the US Civil war, my maternal grandpa fought in France in World War I, and I am even named after a French girl he fell in love with; my father was a medic at Luzon in the Philipines with McAthur; my uncle got a purple heart in France; most of my uncles served , and my uncle in the marines died on Iwo Jima. My high school boyfriend died in Vietnam and my two cousins came back from there drug addicted. I was active in the US Civil Rights movement, and inadvertently put my life on the line a few times, and I remember how most of you patriots acted in that REAL and hard test of whether you were for democracy and the USA or not...you were against the last great struggle for human freedom in our country. So By God I have as much right to speak as YOU do, and I'm sick of the INQUISITION imposed on people like me. We had no right to invade Afghanistan or Iraq! Bush said we were going into Afghanistan ONLY to get Bin Ladin, and today the press comes out admitting that Rumsfeld let him go! FYI, invasion and occupation is a very dangerous, dirty business, and the USA is very likely going to collapse under the weight of all this...and bring down a lot of the world with it. My great grandpas endured a Civil War, and they taught my grandparents a thing or two...and I think you must be one of those people who knows NOTHING of war. We are not the only great nation...so is China, Russia,India and also Europe; there is Indonesia and Brazil, even...and you better get used to that fact, because the world is a big place, and you cannot tear up the hotel room every time you don't win the hockey match.

Pauline, I have not an iota of doubt in my mind that Lisa is a proud mother. And she has every right to be. After all, she has two sons serving their country. Or, are they? That is the big question you have answered so masterfully. Lisa, I have great respect and admiration for you. You are a sincere woman and a great mother. My problem is this. Have you ever asked yourself whether your valiant sons are serving the country or a certain class of wealthy gangsters in this class society we call America. What has the average American benefited from all this ongoing killing and devastation in so many theaters of the world. I salute your and your sons' patriotism. However, I firmly believe that your and other people's patriotism is being abused by powers to be for their own selfish interests. More directly, the Americans killing and being killed in faraway places are doing it not for their country, but for the masked enemies of their country. The class of people who send others to die and call the action "patriotism" deserve nothing but contempt and condemnation. Not a single one of their sons has ever been placed in the harms way, let alone sent to Iraq-Afghanistan-Pakistan-Somalia-Yemen to die.

Kihnu January 07, 2010, 12:20 quote

Lisa, I appreciate your patriotism which these days is not very popular among the powerful and well to do in our societies. I feel sorry for the Americans who still have blind faith in their government's spread of death and destruction in Afghanistan, Iraq and Pakistan under the pretext of 9-11. The people America is killing and maiming in these countries had nothing to do with the terrorist attack on Sept 11. The 10 of the 11 terrorists were Saudis, and one was Egyptian. These terrorists were trained in American flight schools and they took off from American airports. It was American incompetence that permitted this attack to take place in the first place. Bush and his generals took advantage of the chaotic environment in America to invade Afghanistan and Iraq for strategic purposes that have nothing to do with the 9-11 attack. Any thinking person should be concerned with the death and destruction America is spreading in these three countries, and ask themselves WHY? WHY is America killing and horribly maiming people who resist foreign occupation of their country? Or, do the American people believe that no one has no right to resist a foreign invader if the invader is America?
