I sympathize with the students. Heck, I am one and I can barely keep up with tuition increases. But there is no more money. We in the USA have already decided what we would rather spend our money on - wars and other military adventures, in places we've never heard of, halfway around the planet. I say "we", because it is not just our government, but the whole nation has not risen up and forced the government to bring the troops home. So, there is no more money left over for secondary things like education or - pfft - health care or, even, paying off the debt. Which is now impossible to pay off, so we can expect a default in the forseeable future. Therefore, we can say goodbye to convincing foreign suckers - er, I mean investors - to loan us more money so we can afford to subsidize education and wars the way we have in the past. The protests make for good TV, but that is about all. The cookie jar is not only empty, but thieves have busted it into little pieces. If it is any consolation, the students are shortly going to be joined at the barricades by waves of unemployed and by retirees when they realize their IRA accounts are frozen in worthless banks. Have a nice day!

It's just crazy that this country will continue to fund wars in countries half way around the world, but won't fund schools half-way across town. To me that dosen't make any sense at all. How much does the US spend every day in Afganistan? Seems like we need some of that scrilla around here more than there....

I attend a University of California campus. Not only is tuition increasing, but class availability is decreasing. Class size is also increasing and discussion sections/labs are being outright cut from schedules. Students are paying more, and getting less. It now seems more sensible to attend a private college or university, where at least the quality of education may not be suffering as greatly. I might just make the move myself, and feel good about not throwing away hard earned dollars into a smoldering abyss that's not doing anything for me, except making my life more difficult. California is a real hell-hole, and I always planned on leaving this damned state after getting my State of California subsidized education anyway. Too many angry minorities and incompetent elites. Utilize the resource and then bail on the state. Sort of like sticking it to the man in my own special way.

I though that the black Jesus who received the Nobel Peace Price was a social minded person and a great hope for America and the World. Apparently, he is just a vulgar "Uncle Tom" sold to America real masters (Wall-Street, the MIC, the Oil companies and the western oligarchs). He, sure has fooled a lot of peoples. Perhaps that Americans should revise their Constitution and use what is called: for treason of the people of America... I would like to do the same to a certain Sarkozy but in our backward system, we, in France, do not have that possibility. Business-lawyers should not be allowed to enter in politic. In our "great Democracy France" we only have those specimen or ENA's former students. Look at the results ! Sorry Future Generations ! your friend: Jean-Claude Meslin

Obama will squander hundreds of billions of dollars, and ruin tens of thousands of American lives, to enforce his occupation on Afghanistan and Iraq at the expense of social services and education because his pride will not allow him to go into history as a failed American "war president". Bush commenced his "shock and awe" attack on Iraq waving his cowboy hat above his head to the cheers of the American people. After eight years of bombing and killing the Afghan and Iraqi people, Bush rode off into history as a failed American "war president". Obama will expend whatever resources and lives it takes to avoid a similar disgraceful fate. The wars in Afghanistan and Iraq are not about bringing any people a "better life" - it's all about saving the reputation of the American war machine. Perhaps next year the Norwegians will give Obama another Nobel Peace Prize.

Sincerely I sympathise with simple American students. They really are not guilty in the happened crisis. But the administration of the USA has put the hand to this crisis., also will not hear students, and it is a pity. After all students are the future the countries, but only all is vain. Wars which conducts the USA under a specious excuse, take away many financial assets. And to finish these wars administration of the USA, probably, does not plan, because, such actions support fear in the American society and immerse a society in the myths created сомой by administration of the USA. It is necessary to struggle for the right of a worthy life!

It is necessary to struggle for the right of a worthy life! ======================= Cold War and BALANCE of MAD were the happiest times here in the west with huge (in the millions) anti-war demonstration and at least 70% were pro-peace oriented, instead of accepting Mr.Gorbachov's glasnost and perestroika as a gesture of good will they interpreted it as a sign of Russian weakness and started proxy war against Russia. Vast majority of citizenry and students supports the wars and Police state which was implemented in all the countries belonging to Anglosphere. It will be interesting to see how the working class reacts when the realization sinks in that they are the biggest losers in the Cold War win, what globalization TRULY means to them and that those high-paying INDUSTRIAL jobs are gone for ever. The new-economy is SERVICE economy. I am glad my age won't allow me to witness that.
