Every year on October 22 individuals march in opposition to police brutality, hoping to bring the issue to the forefront of public awareness. It’s an issue many involved in the march feel is overlooked.
Many demonstrators believe police brutality is on the rise in America, possibly reaching epidemic proportions.
The group was made up of people who have lost friends, family members and other loved ones to alleged police brutality. However, stories in the US media about police brutality cases are rare.
Many on looking NYC police officers reminded the marchers that when they are the victims of violence and crime, the police are there to protect them.
Cases often go unreported. However, reported cases involving police brutality allegations can cost local police departments millions in settlements.
