Vaccination, personal hygiene and understanding that swine flu is not deadly serious for majority of those infected are the best way to handle the pandemic, Shannon Brownlee from the New America Foundation told RT.

This is what happened to the Assiniboine people on the Fort Belknap Reservation. First a runner came from the East saying that someone important was coming, so the tribe must gather immediately. The man arrived and told how a great sickness was coming and that he was here to protect the people so as to prevent this disaster. The man scratched the people on their arms and rubbed in a pine resin looking ball . He told them that the scratch would become itchy; however if they removed the scab that they would surely die from the coming sickness. The man then left. The people who could not stand the itching and removed them, lived. A lot of people died.
