Record snow fall blankets Washington, DC, but can the US capital cope? The federal government has been closed for three days in a row at a cost of $100 million a day as crews struggle to dig DC out from "Snowmageddon."

I was in it and stranded in my neighbourhood for days, since there was no bus service. I spent my time digging out fire hydrants, bus stops and neighbours' cars. It gave me some good exercise. It was almost 60 cms in northwest Arlington. Wish I could download some photos of the ice on the rain gutters and snow in front of my house.
