Over $US 600 billion a year is how much the most powerful military machine on Earth spends on defense, and it is fueled by nothing other than US taxpayer's money.

Yes, those adds help make sure the voter tells their representatives in Congress the money is well spent as the country needs the best weapons for its Defense.

Such ads paid for by a few highly concentrated number of US defense contractors is simply a matter of public relations, which hopes to soften the American public's resistance to bloats defense budgets at a time when the economy is in tatters. But then again, the US has used its military industrial complex for many decades to stimulate economic growth, despite the effects such weapon-hoarding is having on the planet. After all, if you build the systems you are increasingly tempted to use them. America needs to find other ways of stimulating its economy besides through ways that are inherently destructive.

If half of the Pentagon's spending were to be given over to improving the lot of Americans they'd have something really worth defending.

it seems there should be an article about how things you dont read consciously or dont worry/resist them, how they fit nicely into subconsciousness where norms of your behaviour are formed. It seems its just a practice before they spread it wide accross the US, which reminds me clearly of nazi Tiger and other machines of war to support the "full spectrum dominance" at home as well as worldwide, so in my mind they prepare the public subconscious mind for more war, as well as losing whatever freedoms in process, all in the service of brighter future (american dream of whatever), they will have to bring peace where the resources are. All this war propaganda is to make them believe in their superiority, their righteousness, of no civilians dying as collateral damage ... of which reasonable know it is all lie. That means recruitment propaganda as well, fighting a good fight, brainless one might believe, fighting for corporates as if for themselves ... not protecting women and children, but for big money, that is people who lost their humanity long ago.

Anyone who thinks that is alright to go around and kill other people is absolutely insane. For some world's governments these kinds of activities seems to be main preoccupation. They are barbaric, uncivilized people!

I think that this and similar ads are indirectly directed to foreign governments- embassies , spies and journalists working or visiting Washington DC. The U.S $700B plus military budget is also sustained with 700 military bases and with fiat money. Why other nations continue in trade in the U.S dollar when there is 30% real unemployment in the United States and 1/3 of the U.S budget goes to purchasing weapons? Why do Russia, China and EU continue to purchase U.S treasury bonds which sustain the U.S war machine? Does that mean they are afraid of the U.S military threat? If yes, then, the U.S military will continue on this course until it leads to an inevitable global catastrophe.

The American Economy has had path dependency problems starting back to the end of the 1st World War. These led to the hysteresis problems that are now destabilising the US as a “leading” ideological torch that others can emulate. The Yanks just cannot get of their military dependency and the reality that they did not de-militarise after the end of the Cold War says quite a bit about the health of their Economy. The powers that be know there economy would not come out of the other end of “Cold Turkey” while they detox from the military crutch that has propped up their so called free/unprotected market. The US Military/economic engine is so deeply embedded into US society it struggle to de-militarise, because the Universities and learning institutions are all militarised via research grants from the Department of Energy (Nuclear Research) and other agencies. The US military-industrial-complex use these as subsidies that generates spill-over civilian-to-military discoveries, or military-to-civilian discoveries, while protectionism is tacit and the subsides are protected by the caveat of national security. Patents are filed, and the Americans keep on spending on Military R&D…it means their system is completely committed to having a huge military. If a country wished to emulate the US concept of democracy 1 for 1, the country would need to have a huge chunk of their industrial complex built around a military complex. There is the catch 22 because the US do not allow this – and so you get information and military asymmetric problems, leading to extreme dissent toward America and Americans, who ultimately cannot pass the buck, as they are ultimately in control of their government… Or are they? I think not anymore. They have subordinated total control of the Country to the people that protect the Money. Lobbies run America……. and the lobbies that seem to do well are the ones that are very good at protecting money.

I'd rather live in Washington, DC and take the Washington subway, knowing that I am protected by those weapons, than live in Moscow under Mr. Putin, who sincerely believes that he knows better than me and other Russians how to govern the country, and who essentially created a mini-Soviet Union. Even worse - the Soviet Union, at least was inventing and producing something. Russia, on the other hand, does not invent anything and does not produce anything. All the gadgets Mr. Putin uses are made in the U.S.A anyway. Whoever could, just left the country already.

What is military spending as % of GNP in the developed world? How much of it is for paying payroll and benefits? What % of R&D is for military purpose? How much are non- developed countries spending as % of GNP in the military? These and many other questions need to be asked and answered before hysteria takes over ads whose obvious purpose is to pump up the masses with pride, just like military parades do. A little honesty, please.

I think that the world will have third world war very soon. USA together with NATO after fall of IRAN, will attack Russia and China directly or indirectly. This plan has been in practice, very long time. After the Nuclear exchange, and death of tho thirds of the world population there will be vaporised USA, EU, Russia and the rest of the world. THEN they (the elites) will make Global World, without boundaries, with world government, one religion, language etc. This is WHY US is producing weapons. FOR ATTACK. I ask Americans. How can they today live in the time of NAZI GERMANY, and do nothing about it. Are you only SERFS, or humans with intelligence. THEY (ELITES) WILL SACRIFICE ALL OF YOU...

is a corrupted and insane country; she has a military oriented economy. She is gangrened above all possible saving. Her population must take the grip of the full situation and take the adequate measures. The fanatic media brainwashing works well and some experts business lawyers have taken over the system. Unfortunately, Russia copy more and more that crazy system in all aspects of life. Sorry Future Generations...JCM
