This is a complete eyewash! We already know that, already since "Operation Northwoods" in the early 1960s, the military of the United States have the technical means and equippment to take over control of commercial airplanes and have complete control over them!

A Barret .50 cal is a simple bolt action rifle that will send a single bullet in one side of an airframe and right out the other side. It will most assuredly not shoot a plane down, baring a 1 in a million hit.
The Barret is so über-scary to gun-banners that "civilians" in NY state aren't allowed to own one. I guess it's safe enough for totalitarian police to shoot up Manhattan with however. As long as police are the ones shooting (beating, choking) innocents, and not "civilians"...
