Democrats want to hijack Occupy Wall Street?

October 10, 2011 18:06

After three full weeks of gaining momentum, the Occupy Wall Street protests have finally penetrated the barricade that kept the movement out of the mainstream networks’ coverage.

This manifestation has competing forces, the anarchistic protestors set up (used in the sense of a wish to be without defined leadership, not the emotive destructive tag media use) the established political elite, and the real goal of realising change. This is what makes this so interesting – can the protestors achieve change without crystallising a defined leadership, or will lack of leadership leave a vacuum, to be exploited by the current political establishment filling the void, distorting the message and killing it. Would a crystallised leadership be a hinderance or a blessing? A leadership would prevent hijack and would follow the conservative route to build a platform, but it could also be seen as packaging the movement in such a way that the political elite can handle, so they can pick off at will, by moving onto their terms. Who knows? Only good judgment knows, but who is the General in a connected online world? Fascinating stuff!

Hey Complex, I bet if you asked those OWS people about Sarah Palin and Michelle Bachmann you'd find out that they hate her too.

ROTHSCHILD'S ILLUMINATI WILL FAIL.. JESUS FOR PRESIDENT .
For those who know the kingdoms of this world are not of our own…. Matt 4:8-10  8 Again, the devil took him-(Jesus) to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. 9 “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.”  10 Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’[e]” &nbs p; Jesus says -"No servant can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money." – Luke 16:13   http: //www.jesusforpresid ent.org/

Good luck, this was set up with anarchistic principals (no negotiation), something even a party of criminal-sympathizer s will have trouble containing.
Havin g been at these protests, it seems that this is a moderate movement (at least the one's i've seen). Everyone is against parties altogether and just wants a strong middle-class back.

It seems so strange to me that people still think there is some difference between the political parties once they get into office. Think about what Presidents Clinton and Obama promised before they got elected and compare it with what happened once they were in the White House. If you want a good example, why did a Democratic President and Labour British Prime Minister repeal Glass-Steagel and de-regulate the financial services industry and set the scene for 2008? What is "left wing" about that?  You might expect that from right wing politicians but not from the representatives of blue collar workers.

"Democrats want to hijack Occupy Wall Street?" Noo, you think?!.. "Turn a failure into a success." is a fraze you can hear a few times a day if you live in an English speaking country in this world - it's in their mentality. Advantages: it's a good approach to go about a failure. Disadvantages: gives you the wrong hope that you can fix any mess.. which is called "utopia."

Hey J Flores,Maybe you should cut the Russians some slack here; they're trying to help.  If you are such a "Political Expert" they why don't you try to explain things to them better; rather than criticizing them for tiny little intricac ies that they could never possibly know or guess in a million years?

The biggest enemies of Sarah Palin and Michelle Bachmann are Republicans, not Democrats; who would use them as a joke against the Republican Party.
It was Obama's Socialist Policies that caused all these problems in the first place.  HE bailed out the Banks, not Bush!
Both Fox News and the "Liberal" media are from the same political force.  A "Neo-Con" is a Right-Wing Socialist, farther to the left than a Liberal Democrat, but in the mantle of a Republican.
These are fake Republicans too.  Both sides of the MSM are corrupt.  They have all been bought by (the Jews) the Corporations.
Pri or to 1991, the media tended to put "Objectivity" above political considerations; especially before 9-11.  Now, with all this "secrecy"; the media is no longer even remotely honest; and are not objectively trustworthy anymore.
An open honest media is a part of free-market capitalism; so we have a socialist controlled media; that pretends it is free or capitalist, when it clearly isn't.
Every time Larry Kudlow spews out his theme, it rings so hollow that it actually says the exact reverse; that the road to prosperity is being a sold out  networked bureaucrat with absolutely no creativity or imagination, whatsoever.

For God's sake people.
Please use this opportunity to form a new party. Don't get taken over by those sellouts they call democrats. Tell them that if they want to speak for/join the movement, they first have to leave the party. See if you can get hold a couple of those rare politicians who seem to have some integrity (I know, this is kind of a contradiction in terms). Don't take any notice of party affiliations. The criteria should be politicians who have been most consistent in support of the people interests over corporate interest. I have seen (a few) politicians in the US system who appear to have a genuine desire for real reform (even though some of them allow themselves to be periodicly bullied by their respective parties). Call their bluff!  Make a new party, get the leaders to compromise in creating a mandate. Populate the bulk of the seats with genuine grass roots candidates..... Then.... vote for them. Steamroll Obama out of office and relegate mainstream republican candidates to a minority, bible belt position, the way it always should have been anyway. Think outside the box, what about a Ron Paul/Kucinich ticket? Why not? Whatever you do, don't let Nancy Pelosi, or Barack Obama have anything to do with it.

American Patriot 10.10.2011 21:26

The Occupy Wall Street protests all boil down the the CONSTITUTION of the United States and how our Federal Government has consistently, time and again, broken the law to suit them. From the passage of the "Federal Reserve Act" which was the biggest heist/scam in the history of the World, to ObamaCare, trying to force Americans to purchase medical insurance they might not want to buy. Every problem that is represented at these protests ALL coincide with the Federal Government's lawlessness, and the American People (particularly those who are unemployed) are going out into the street and letting the government know that we're not going to take their shit anymore. We're done bailing out their friends and the criminals on Wall St. The next step is for 100 million Americans to not file their tax return. We WILL be heard and WE WILL succeed, because our government is 'of the People, by the People and FOR the People'. And it is our DUTY to alter or abolish it when it no longer is in our best interests. Amen.

The only reason they're attempting to co-opt the OWS movement is because they fear the anger of the majority of these protesters will be targeted directly at them, hence playing along with it saying they support it. However it is clear who the really enemy is, the entire financial system. Politicians are merely financed by these corporations and are just puppets doing their bidding. The entire corporate sector will need to be toppled and restructured if any meaningful change is to take place.

Who wrote this? No authorship given, and the article is of substandard quality and reflects a total ignorance of american political discourse; what defines 'liberal', 'democratic' (author confuses big D and little d 'democratic') are just examples.  Obama is not 'very liberal', not even arguably - no one with an ounce of credibility sees this war mongering wall street lackey as 'liberal' in the US sense.  He's 'liberal' in the 'neo-liberal' sense, he's liberal in a European sense - but not "US liberal" which is associated with social-democracy in Europe.  Author is right that Democrats are trying to co-opt this movement.  But everyone knows this.  The rest of the 'info' just reflects the authors weak background in political science, political theory, and plain ol political sense.

There is no news here.
The democrats also latched themselves to the drug culture of the 1960s. The crazed LSD wackouts of the 1960s are now democratic US senators and congressmen. No wonder they have an affinity with these so-called "protestors".  To the disappointment of their 1960s generation, the current "protestors" are just out for the fun of marching and waving at the TV cameras - and, also free food.

This is a protest against our entire system.  No party represents the will of the masses.
The system is corrupt, hundreds of years old, and failing.
Somethin g new is needed.  As much as they may try, none of the current major parties can offer a solution as it's the system itself that is the problem.
