California hunger-striking prisoner dies in solitary confinement – activists

A California prisoner has died in solitary confinement while reportedly participating in a hunger strike to protest inmates' conditions, prison activists said on Monday. But state corrections officials say the death is being investigated as a suicide.

This is a bunch of bull! Our family members dont deserve to die! In county my brother had to sleep on the floor! Idgaf what all u people say good just another person what what u do if that was ur brother or sister? Or son or daughter?! They are asking for a lil bit ! Is it bad to want to be healthy and them saying they do get visits and mail is a lie! They take their mail! They dnt recieve mail either! They get everythin stripped off of them! My brother had an operation and same day he went back to his cell and given tylenol! Wtf kinda treatment is this..i pray god will one day open ur eyes!

Yes unfair conditions.. Death row inmates like Scott Peterson who was convicted of murdering his pregnant wife is allowed contact with his family. Why should men in SHU not be afforded that right also. 20 years no physical contact because CDC decides you are a gang member is inhumane.

unfair conditions? The person they murdered has unfair conditions, 6' under. Not these guys.

Death is not bad in such cases, especially when the person done some things so heinous to deserve solitary confinement in jail. This death is just.

I hope he died from the prison strike. Personally I'm tired of people complaing about prisoners having "unfair" conditions. I mean they get cable TV, three meals a day, a gym membership, free collage, get to hang out with friends everyday and don't have to work. How is this unfair? I mean I wish I got that stuff for free. Also prisoners loose there rights, this includes the right to unionize.
