Recession only worsened since officially ending

October 10, 2011 19:40

A new report reveals that not only have the after effects of the recession been more severe than thought, but offers perhaps the best revelation yet that the crisis has only continued even after we were told it was over.

Lowering rent reduces the number of people who can't afford somewhere to live and lets those who are already renting spend more on other goods and services, thereby expanding other sectors of the economy.

Howe ver, (there is always a 'however' with economics) these impacts will only exist in the short to medium term (say 1 to 5 years).

In the longer term, lower rents will mean that landlords have less incentive to build new houses to accommodate a growing population since if they are receiving less on the houses they are renting to others, then they will choose to invest their money in other things. Therefore, over-time, you will get a shortage of rental accommodatio n and tenants will compete with each other for the available houses by offering to pay more and thus market forces will push rents back up again.

BTW...Mr.Zooman by lowering rents more people will rent places as tenants and th e owners will make more money because they will have tenants move into their apartments instead of them paying for the empty apartments. so technically i give some credit to  END the Recession!!

So, to "End the recession" I somewhat agree with you. I agree that lowering gass prices will be beneficial but think about it like this, oil is brought in from 3rd world countries and the gas companies need to make a certain amount of money. This keeps the economy running. Also, producing clothing and what not in america won't help. This will hurt the economy i believe. By manufacturing in other countries such as china, india, bangladesh, thailand, the cost is reduced by a large amount. Hence, the decent prices we pay to buy clothes from companies such as GAP, H&M, Etc. Your point being made makes sense. This would deff create new and more available jobs. Which will deff help the economy. Regardless to say, the topic about this economy is very subtle at the moment. Getting the country completely back on its feet will deff  be a challenge.

Yes I agree that President Obama should create more jobs for the unemployed but how are these people going to get new jobs if the U.S. doesn't create any?  That's why if we manufacture companies in the U.S. we will all be less tensed about the unemployment r ate.

I disagree with END the Recession. First off, by lowering rents won't solve a thing, what really matters is the cost of a house nowadays, not the amount of payment of rent. In addition, it costs much cheaper to manufacture conpanies outside of USA, so it's better to do it there than in US. Instead, Obama should create more jobs for the unemployed. Finally, there shouldn't be any corruption going on, too.

I dont agree with ZCKS  because in order to turn around the economy we need to: 1)put more people to work, so that means building or creating new jobs, 2)lowering gas prices 3) lowering rents 4)prevent the next housing bubble 5) The U.S. government should take lower income tax from the middle and lower class and take a higher income tax to the higher income class. 6) manufacture big Companies like GAP inside America instead of doing it in Canada, China, Japan, India, ect....this means that if we manufacture companies in the USA then more jobs will be created.Does anyone disagree with me??

Do you understand that it is high time to get the business loans, which can make your dreams come true.

This is really very disturbing… historically recessions are known only due to world wars. What else proof we need to realise capitalism IS unfit for 21st century? And what on earth they, the all-knowing hardcore capitalists, can possibly do to come out of the recessions (we see following a wave after another) except via WWIII reducing the population from 7 down to 1 billion? God bless us ALL!

The crisis begins with the origins of the Federal Reserve. Perhaps the people should stop listening to what they are told and being their own investigations as to what is really occuring in the economy. God gave us all a brain...I think we should use it. We can better look out for ourselves that way.

What do people expect, were letting in more legal immigrants then we create jobs each month never mind all the illegal ones coming here.

If anyone really wants to turn around the economy they need to do things.

1: End the north American Free Trade Agreement & create a tax on everything shipped in from Mexico. Create one form things brought in from China while your at it.

2: Recall our troops from over seas & have them guard the border, while your at it build a wall or very decent sized chasm to slow & keep people from crossing like the Rio grande does in some areas.

3: Deport people who came here illegally.

Af ter that you will start to see companies either shift their manufacturing jobs to America. They will do this because it will be cheaper then paying for shipping & federal taxes on goods from Mexico & China.
As a plus Americans will actually be able to get those jobs because they will no longer have to compete with millions of Illegal immigrants who will work for half the price while not paying taxes.
