The Untouchables: NY Senate passes bill making 'annoying' police a crime

06.06.2013 10:47

This is a very dangerous slope we are slipping down. I feel there were already enough laws protecting public servants. The only reason they passed this law is to stop citizens from recording the public servant. You can't legislate respect...only fear. Get rid of our leaders! they are destroying our freedoms.

A police officer is only human, therefore, subject to over-work, fear, and frustration like every other person on this planet; clouding judgement and causing bias at any given moment in time. That may present a danger to the public when an officer is verbally engaged ("confronted&qu ot;) by citizens that are knowledgeable of their Constitutional rights but the officer sees it as "an annoyance" that the individuals rely on the fourth, fifth, and sixth amendments. What protections does the public have in this regard?

Use remote video to record bad cops doing their evil deeds..and you good cops, get some back bone and expose them, stop hoping they get kill and just tell on them like real police do,stop being scared...

How about doing something positive instead of making useless laws. If police were respectful they wouldn't need extra safeguards for most people. Some people will disregard the police no matter what, just as dirty cops will disregard the law.

Police state!!!!

Anonymous user 25.06.2013 18:38

Remember it is there job to protect the rights of the citizens not the other way around.

Police have a PR issue for a reason and they need to work to clean that up if they want respect.

Dont use your rights. To trample over mine... you can use your badge to be-little, annoy, and dis-respect me...call me a liar.....but I get a felony conviction. A ruined life. If you say that I annoyed you?!!!!!

G od protect us.....and keep us safe.

Not all police officers will.

My grattitude; respect; and heartfelt
THANK YOU......for those that do, and did!!!!!!!

There are plenty of people who risks their lives every day just performing the duties of a job they chose. Police are just people. Why should they be given special treatment for something they knowingly signed up for? It disgusts me that police officers are encouraged to think that they are superior because they have privileges that other citizens do not.

Anonymous user 15.06.2013 18:11

And I also agree that this law is pretty darn stupid.

Anonymous user 15.06.2013 18:10

As I agree with some of the people saying the police abuse power, don't assume that they all do.

Anonymous user 14.06.2013 01:08

NYPD ALREADY assault anyone who's not a cisgender white guy. now we cant even get proof! how awful.

Anonymous user 13.06.2013 16:51

This takes us one step closer to all out anarchy. You think people hate cops now? Just wait.

Anonymous user 13.06.2013 01:19

The police deserve NOTHING. They already abuse their power as it is!

Anonymous user 12.06.2013 00:15

Too many police officers in our society have lost the respect they need to have for people!

Anonymous user 11.06.2013 03:23

Wow How many cops wives will get arrested ?

Anonymous user 10.06.2013 17:14
