RT Arabic online had more than 5 million unique visitors in June and July. According to SimilarWeb, in the last two months RT Arabic has surpassed all competing Arabic-language TV news channels in terms of unique visitors to its website, including Al Jazeera, Al Arabiya, CNN Arabic, and Sky News Arabia.
“The number of unique visitors is one of the most important indicators for a website. It shows that RT Arabic is attracting more readers than other online portals of Arabic-language TV broadcasters at a time when the competition in the Arabic-speaking segment is extremely high, and that audience is nearly oversaturated with local, regional, and global news sites,” said Head of RT Arabic Maya Manna.
According to the analytics portal SimilarWeb, over the course of five consecutive months, the RT Arabic website was also the most visited site among all Arabic-language television news channels with 120 million visits. The greatest number of visits to the site came from Egypt.
Additionally, RT Arabic continues to lead all Arabic-language versions of other international news media – such as CNN, BBC, Sky News, DW, France 24, and Euronews – in terms of Facebook followers and views and subscribers on YouTube.
RT Arabic began broadcasting in 2007 and since then has been a multiple winner and finalist for various international awards, including New York Festivals, the AIB Awards, and Promax BDA, as well as the Iraqi Al-Ghadir Festival. In 2017, RT Arabic journalists were honored by the National Union of Journalists of Iraq, as well as the National Union of Journalists of Syria.
