RT EXTENDS APPLICATION DEADLINE FOR INTERNATIONAL WAR JOURNALISM COMPETITION

MOSCOW, SEPTEMBER 30, 2024 RT extends the application deadline for its 2024 Khaled Alkhateb International Memorial Awards till October 15. This annual competition seeks to recognize the best journalism from conflict zones. The awards were established in honor of RT Arabic freelancer, Khaled Alkhateb, who was killed on July 30, 2017 while reporting from the frontlines in Syria.

Khaled Alkhateb International Memorial Awards are awarded for the best news video reports from active conflict zones; materials submitted should be under 10 minutes in length. The winners will receive a cash prize and an opportunity to visit Moscow and take part in an experience-exchange program run by RT.

In 2024, RT editor-in-chief Margarita Simonyan will preside over the jury.

To apply, submit your entries at https://award.rt.com

Among past winners of the Khaled Alkhateb International Memorial Awards are journalists from Russia, Iraq, Ireland, Singapore, USA, Italy, Syria, Yemen, Palestine and Argentina.

The Khaled Alkhateb International Memorial Awards were established by RT in memory of 25-year-old RT Arabic stringer Khaled Alkhateb who was killed by ISIS shelling in Homs, Syria, in 2017. Khaled had been covering the fighting between Syrian government forces and terrorists.
