Airbus displayed its brand-new A-350-900 model in Russia, claiming it's the most efficient twin-engine long-range aircraft in the world.
"We had to manage our way through the sanctions that are in place over the last year or two, and there is no doubt that sometimes it is a little bit challenging, but I think our clear objective is knowing that as time goes on we need to deliver all our aircraft to Russia,” Christopher Buckley, Airbus executive vice-president, Europe, Africa, Asia and Pacific told RT.
“We have great long-term confidence in the Russian marketplace so we will keep doing business even with the sanctions in place."
He added that Russia is a market that will require 2,000 large jet aircraft in 20 years.
According to Airbus, it’s the only major foreign aircraft producer to display a brand new airplane at the MAKS-2015 expo in the Moscow Region.
The A-350-900 is the first Airbus aircraft which has both the fuselage and wing structures made primarily of carbon-fiber-reinforced polymer. It has a capacity of between 280 and 366 people seated, and will compete in the market with its rivals, the Boeing 787 and 777.
