Russia, China, Japan sign to build Tatarstan carbamide plant

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, China National Chemical Engineering Group, Russian state company Ammonium, and VEB have signed an agreement to build a $1 billion carbamide fertilizer plant in Tatarstan.

The plant will be built in Mendeleyevsk and is expected to produce 2.05 metric tones of ammonium a day. According to the project the plant will be commissioned in 2015 to simultaneously produce ammonium and methanol from natural gas. The plant will be the first major fertilizer production facility built in Russia in twenty years.The signing of the agreement took place at the APEC summit in Japan.
