A pack of stray dogs took revenge on the owner of a car in China by taking bites out of its bodywork. The driver had kicked one of the hounds after finding it in his parking spot. So the dog returned with reinforcements to get stuck into the car.

The incident happened in the city of Chongqing in central China. The owner of the car was returning home when he spotted one of the strays lying down in his parking spot. Rather than ushering the animal away politely, he decided to put his boot into the dog, sending the hound scurrying.

If the driver thought that was the end of it, he was severely mistaken. After the driver had gone indoors, the dog returned with a pack of friends who took a few bites out of the vehicle's bodywork.

The event was caught on camera by a neighbor, with the pack of dogs now becoming famous all over the internet.

China has recently seen a surge in pet ownership. Up until the 1980s, owning a dog was illegal in Beijing as it was seen to be bourgeois by the Communist government. However, attitudes have been changing and by 2012 there were more than 1 million registered pet dogs in the Chinese capital alone, with China becoming the third-largest pet market in the world.

However, animal rights groups still report numerous cases of dogs and other animals facing abuse.
