Brussels airport and Metro bombings
The terror attacks rocked the Belgian capital on Tuesday morning. Two explosions went off in the departure hall of Brussels’ Zaventem Airport at around 8 a.m. local time, with at least one of them being a suicide bombing. A third blast occurred at the Maalbeek Metro station, near the European Union headquarters. The bombings left at least 31 people dead and 250 wounded.
Shortly after the terror attacks, the most renowned landmarks across the globe appeared lit up in the colors of the Belgian flag, including the Eiffel tower in Paris, the Brandenburger Tor in Berlin, Athen’s Pantheon as well as the world’s tallest building, Dubai’s Burj Khalifa tower.
