RT’s Igor Zhdanov got into the gilded halls of the Kremlin, walking the same route Putin is set to take ahead of his presidential inauguration, scheduled for May 7. The ceremony will be held at the first floor of the Grand Kremlin Palace.
Russia’s president will walk through the historic halls, which were restored to their former glory in the 1990s after the fall of the Soviet Union. The president will be sworn in at the great Andreevsky Hall, the former throne room of Imperial Russia. Following the 33-word presidential oath, Putin’s new term will start officially.
