Footage has emerged of a scary loud bang and subsequent fire, which caused delays in Moscow’s metro on Wednesday, after the incident was filmed by subway passengers.
The incident occurred at the Avtozavodskaya Station in the north-east of the Russian capital. In the video, uploaded on YouTube, a train emerging from the tunnel is seen coming to a standstill after a loud bang and subsequent fire on the tracks.
Rescuers told 360 broadcaster that the contact rail shorted out, causing the fire. Train services were halted on a segment of the busy Zamoskvoretskay Line at midday due to the fire, and the contact rail needed urgent repairs.
