Airbus employee details hacked in unprecedented data breach

European airplane maker Airbus has admitted that IDs and contacts of its employees were compromised in a massive hack. The company is rushing to reinforce its security measures.

The hackers were able to access data including the identification details and professional contacts of some European Airbus employees. The firm didn’t elaborate on the nature of the hack, but said that “investigations are ongoing to understand if any specific data was targeted,” according to a press release.

The plane manufacturer instructed its employees to “take all necessary precautions going forward,” but moved to reassure the public that its commercial activities have not been impacted.

Airbus is taking “immediate and appropriate actions to reinforce existing security measures,” which weren’t sufficient to keep the hackers out this time around, “and to mitigate its potential impact.”

The European company is one of the leading manufacturers of commercial airplanes, along with Boeing.
