ICYMI: Julian Assange doesn’t need to be a great guy to be a free speech champion
Now that Julian Assange has been unceremoniously removed from Ecuador’s London embassy, there’s no shortage of opinions on the founder of whistleblowing website WikiLeaks.
There are two very distinct tribes forming. His supporters see him as a champion of free speech for shining a light on the activities of spies, politicians and diplomats. His detractors tend to focus on his, shall we say, quirky personality. Oh, and the allegations of sexual assault in Sweden.
So, ICYMI asks, is it possible to be a freedom fighter and a flawed human?
