Iran launched more than 300 drones and missiles against Israel, the military has said

Israel and its allies shot down the vast majority of drones and missiles fired by Iran overnight, with just a single military base sustaining minor damage to its infrastructure, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported on Sunday.

Tehran launched a multi-wave air raid against Israel on Saturday evening in response to an airstrike on an Iranian diplomatic compound in Syria, which killed seven members of Tehran’s military, including two generals. While Israel has remained silent on the airstrike – its usual habit after extraterritorial assassinations – Tehran has accused the IDF of attacking its embassy.

More than 300 drones, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles were fired from Iran overnight, the IDF said in a press release on Sunday morning.

Around 99% of the Iranian drones and missiles were intercepted by air defenses, IDF spokesman Rear Admiral Hagari said. He added that of the 170 drones, 30 cruise missiles, and 120 ballistic missiles fired at Israel overnight, only a few of the ballistic missiles made it past the IDF’s air defenses, hitting Nevatim Airbase in southern Israel and inflicting “minor damage.”

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps, however, called its large-scale attack against Israel a success, claiming that it hit and destroyed several “important military targets,” without providing further details.
