Afghan forces are hunting almost 900 prisoners who escaped in a mass jailbreak in Kandahar after a Taliban assault.

About 1,000 inmates were being held in Sarposa Prison when dozens of militants on motorbikes attacked the facility on Friday. Seven police and several prisoners died in the assault. NATO troops are using helicopters to secure the city and neighbouring districts.
