An estimated 25,000 people have gathered in Armenia’s capital Yerevan to protest against the results of Tuesday's presidential vote. The opposition is demanding a new presidential election.
The Election Commission declared Prime Minister Serzh Sarkisyan the winner with 53 per cent of the vote. However, opposition candidate and former president Levon Ter-Petsosyan says the election was rigged. International observers say the elections were on the whole free and fair. The European Commission has commended Armenia on how the election was held.
