More than 10,000 people gathered in Moscow on Wednesday to commemorate the victims of the recent train crash. Hundreds more rallied in St. Petersburg.
The demonstrators called for an end to terrorism, believed to be behind the recent tragedy that claimed 26 lives.
“We are gathered here today to say that terrorism will not work,” proclaimed a member of the Russian parliament, ITAR-TASS news agency reports. “They are trying to scare us, but they can’t.”
The crowd included prominent politicians, artists and athletes. In memory of all victims of terrorism, a minute of silence was observed.
