EU satellite for Galileo system launched

The experimental satellite was fired into space on a Russian Soyuz rocket and successfully separated from its launch vehicle.  The Galileo system promises to more than double GPS coverage in Europe, providing navigation for motorists, sailors, pilots and rescue teams.   Post this story to del.icio.us
