Fidel Castro makes first public appearance in three years
Iconic revolutionary and a former Cuban leader Fidel Castro appeared in public for the first time since to 2010 to cast his ballot in Cuba's general election on Sunday.
This is the first time, the Cuban hero has voted publically in the last three elections since falling ill in 2006 and handing over power to his brother Raul in 2008.The 86-year-old was broadcast on state run television wearing a blue plaid shirt and light blue jacket and talking to reporters for over an hour about the island’s economy, Latin American integration and the Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez..Around 95 percent of Cubans over 16 years of age are expected to cast ballots as they take to the polls on Sunday to elect 612 Communist deputies to the National Assembly and more than 1,000 delegates to provincial assemblies.
