The legendary French fashion designer Yves Saint-Laurent has died in Paris at the age of 71. The most influential and enduring designer of his time, Yves Saint Laurent was one of those who made Paris the fashion capital of the world.

He is credited with changing the face of women's clothing when he became Chief Designer at Christian Dior at only 21-years-old. He created a look which reflected women's changing role in society, becoming arguably the most-influential name in 20th-century fashion. Saint-Laurent retired in 2002 and spent much of his time at his house in Morocco. To many, he'll be remembered not only as one of the greatest fashion designers, but also as a French cultural icon.
