Supporters of Georgia’s united opposition have clashed with the police near the building of the country’s Central Election Commission in the capital Tbilisi.
About a 100 protesters, including several opposition leaders, attempted to block the roads around the building, as well as the door to the CEC. They say they were attacked by police units and special forces who were in the building at the time. No serious injuries have been reported and no arrests were made. The situation is now peaceful, but the incident may be used by the opposition in the run-up for the parliamentary election scheduled for May 21.
