Greens follow political agenda carping science – climate-change skeptic

The demonizing of manmade CO2 is nonsense, because it is only a tiny part in the atmosphere and man produces only a miniscule quantity of that, believes climate change skeptic journalist Johnny Ball.

CO2 is essential for life on Earth, making plants grow, and mankind is not responsible for creating surplus amounts of CO2, insists Ball.“Plants on land, rotting and fermenting leaves, produce around 350 billion tonnes of CO2 a year, man and his industry produces almost 24 billion tonnes – we’re talking about a factor of 14. So, nature is producing 14 times as much. But of all of plants on Earth only 20 per cent are on land, 80 per cent of all plants on Earth are in the oceans and the seas,” compares John Ball, noting that there is a great system of total CO2 exchange in nature and this system can be upset, but to a degree that is so minimal that the whole global warming theory is crazy.Johnny Ball believes that climate scientists have got it wrong, because there is a lobby that intends to “stop the world progressing, because, oddly enough, those who protest against modern technology want to hold things back, in other words make technology less effective which in turn would be a greater weight on the environment. For example, nuclear energy is absolutely carbon-free, but Greens oppose further development of the nuclear industry, branding it dangerous. “It is a political motivation having nothing to do with efficiency,” he concluded.Ball says the US Senate has just voted to have nothing to do with the UN International Panel on Climate Change: not to fund it, not to back it and not to be interested in its reports.Meanwhile, American policy on the bio fuel market has already doubled the food prices in many regions of the world, affecting the poorest, about 90 per cent of the population. This in turn led to public revolts in countries like Egypt, Tunisia, Yemen, Jordan etc.The battle for energy squeezes Great Britain as well, making it subsidize whole trends, like wind energy or bio fuel that would not “ever prove they are worth a candle”.Climate science is tremendously politicized, “they say – it is the consensus.”“Eugenics was made by consensus, Lynching might work by consensus, Hitler was accepted by consensus – you know? Consensus means nothing,” declares Johnny Ball.“I believe in the next generation,” he states, “but surely we’ve got to get their minds into the right attitude about science and technology.”
