Three militants have been killed by Special Forces in a village in Russia’s Southern Republic of Ingushetia.

One officer was wounded during the operation, in which the militants were cornered inside a private building.

It is reported that the three militants were involved in a series of blasts and attempts on the lives of local officials and policemen, and were also planning terror attacks in the republic. They were intending to use home-made explosive devices.

Ingushetia has long been plagued by terrorist attacks and violence. Last year, the republic’s President, Yunus-bek Yevkurov, was nearly killed in a suicide bombing. The most recent counter-terrorist operation, conducted in February, saw 14 militants killed.
