Grave mistake: Egyptian man crashes own funeral

Grave mistake: Egyptian man crashes own funeral

The funeral of an Egyptian man took a dramatic twist after the not-so departed was mistakenly declared dead by doctors.

Hamdi Hafez al-Nubi, a 28 year-old waiter from southern Egypt, was pronounced dead after he suffered a heart attack while serving tables. After his body was returned from hospital, the relatives washed him and began funeral preparations as they were dead-set on burying him the same day in accordance with Islamic tradition. The grave mistake was revealed as a doctor came to sign the death certificate. He found it strange that the body was warm and at closer look realized that the man was still alive. The man’s mother fainted upon hearing the news.  Both al-Nubi and his mother were revived, turning a mournful funeral into a lively celebration.
