Four suspected militants have been killed early on Wednesday during a counter-terror operation in Russia's Southern Republic of Dagestan.
The men were ambushed in the city of Hasyavyurt as they attempted to flee special forces troops. They refused to surrender, instead opening fire on police. There are no reports of casualties among the security forces, but three police officers reportedly suffered minor injuresA spokesperson for the city interior department said the counter-terror operation was complete. Dagestan has been gripped by almost daily violence between the authorities and extremist groups.
