11 people have been killed and at least 31 wounded after a suicide car bomber rammed his vehicle into an Iraqi police checkpoint near Baghdad University on Wednesday.
The attack took place in the Jadriya district, in south-western Baghdad. Police says there are civilians and police officers among the dead and wounded.Meanwhile a number of blasts were heard in Baghdad from early in the morning, some in the Green Zone where the Iraqi parliament is located.A Pentagon report issued earlier this week says attacks on U.S. and Iraqi troops and civilians have reached their highest level since power was handed over to an interim Iraqi government in June 2004.
