London police have arrested two men in connection with a video featuring a ‘Muslim patrol’ in East London hurling abuse at a man for ‘looking gay’. Local Muslim leaders have condemned the group's actions.

In the video, hooded thugs shout at a passerby in what is thought to be the Whitechapel area of East London, calling him a “bloody fag”. “Mate, don’t you know this is a Muslim area. What’s wrong with your face? Why you dressed like that for?” shouts one of those filmed in the incident. The victim, who appears to wearing make-up, can be heard saying, “I am a homosexual”. The hooded youth then replies, “You are walking through a Muslim area dressed like a fag. You need to get out of here.” It comes after another video was posted by the same group, called The Truth About Saturday Night, in which white women were called “naked animals with no self-respect.” The same group has allegedly been seen in the Whitechapel area confiscating booze from revelers and confronting members of the public. Police have stepped up patrols in the area and have asked community leaders to help them. “We have also been speaking to local community leaders and influential people, local businesses and the local authority about the issue and what is being done, and can be done to address it,” a Metropolitan Police spokesman told the London-based Gay Star News. Meanwhile local religious leaders have also condemned the groups’ actions.“The East London Mosque is committed to building co-operation and harmony between all communities in this borough. The actions of this tiny minority have no place in our faith nor on our streets. We will monitor the situation closely and our Imams will be speaking out against such actions,” said a spokesman for the Mosque.
