Up to 60 armed men attacked the village of Benoy-Vedeno, located south of the republic's capital Grozny shortly after midnight on Friday. They opened fire on local people, shooting three dead and wounding another. The local police have vowed the gunmen will be found. “The militants say they killed 20 people. This is not true. A special operation is underway at the moment. We are tracking them down. We will find and eliminate them wherever they are,” said Ruslan Alkhanov, the head of local police.
