A trial date has been set for an American woman who shipped her adopted Russian son back to Moscow with no more than a note, saying she didn't want him anymore.
In April 2010, Torry Hansen placed the 7-year old child on the transatlantic flight all by himself, claiming he had psychological problems.Hansen is being sued for child support by adoption agency World Association for Children and Parents, with the trial set for March 27. Judge F. Lee Russell ordered the trial to be open to the media, despite the defense’s plea to do otherwise. No criminal charges against Hansen have been pressed. The boy, Artyom Savelyev, remains in Russia where he's receiving professional care at a special children’s village complex. The incident sparked outrage internationally, and led to new adoption rules between the US and Russia.
