Stage collapse kills 1, halts Radiohead Toronto concert (VIDEO)

One person died and three were injured after a stage collapsed before a Radiohead concert in Toronto. The show by the legendary rock band was scheduled for Saturday, but after the incident the event was canceled.

Emergency Medical Services say the deceased is a man in his mid-30s, who was trapped under the debris.A 45-year-old man was hospitalized with a head injury and two others were treated at the scene for minor injuries. Police said the crew was setting up the stage when the top portion collapsed on top of them.It was intended for a concert by British band Radiohead at Downsview Park in Toronto. Thousands of fans were lined up for the gig when the stage suddenly went down. “There was a loud crash and it sounded like sheet metal and lightning and we just saw the stage collapse,” an employee with Toronto radio station The Edge, which was sponsoring the concert, told the media.The concert has been canceled, and the venue has been cleared by emergency crews. The band’s website had listed the concert as being sold out, with 40,000 tickets sold.Aerial footage shows the extent of the collapse.
