Russia's Supreme Court has upheld a sentence for Aleksandr Koptsev who stabbed worshippers at a Moscow synagogue this January. He was sentenced to 16 years imprisonment by Moscow's City Court earlier this year.

The 20-year-old Muscovite wounded nine people at a synagogue in central Moscow in January. Koptsev's lawyers appealed against the city court's verdict claiming none of those attacked were seriously injured. Now they are planning to appeal to the European human rights court.
