Iran says it's carried out the second phase of a military exercise near its border with Turkey. The location is significant due to its proximity to NATO bases inside Turkey.
Iran's Air Force includes American Fs, Russian-made Sukhoi and Iranian Saeghehs aircraft. “Our fighter jets took off from various bases around the country and went to the drill area,” said Hussein Jet Farushan, an Iranian military spokesman. “Signal interception and jamming equipment was also used as well as unmanned jets that are now in mass production in Iran.” Military experts believe the operation is aimed at showing the world and the U.S. in particular Iran's military might. “What we see is a result of the U.S. presence in the region. It's prompted a leap in quality of Iran’s missile and aviation sectors,” said Amir Al-Mussui, a military expert.
