Thousands of people have staged a rally in the Armenian capital, Yerevan, to show their support for one of the leading candidates in the upcoming presidential election.

Crowds of people marched through the main streets of the capital criticising the current leadership. Levon Ter-Petrosyan, who was the first president of Armenia in the 90, headed the rally. Nine candidates are to compete in the presidential election, which is due to take place on February 19. Armenia's current Prime Minister Serzh Sarkisyan is the main rival of Levon Ter-Petrosyan.
